Toner Recycling

The unfortunate facts:

  • The plastic used in a typical ink cartridge is industrial gradeand can take over 400 years to decompose while others can take up to 1000.
  • More than 700 million printer cartridges are dumped in landfills per year, 300 million in North America. These numbers are growing at an alarming rate of over 12% per year.
  • Over 70% of cartridges manufactured today are thrown out and never reused, equaling the weight of almost 100,000 Ford Explorers.
  • Stacked end to end, cartridges thrown away in one year would cover a distance of over 24,000 miles-enough to circle the earth.


For each remanufactured toner cartridge or ink cartridge you reuse you will save:

  • 3.5 Quarts of oil for each toner cartridge
  • 2.5 ounces of oil for each inkjet cartridge
  • Over a pound of plastic for each reused cartridge
  • An average recycler prevents 264 gallons of oil and 845 pounds of hazardous waste from reaching landfills.
You can help save over 120 million tons of recyclable plastic, metal, rubber, paper and toner from landfills by using remanufactured  toner and ink cartridges and recycling old ones.  And now there is another incentive! If you purchase any remanufactured MCS Greenline Toner through our website. You can select your favorite local non-profit organization while checking out and MCS will donate $1 per each Greenline Toner cartridge purchased. Michigan Computer Supply is also offering FREE empty toner pickup for businesses and organizations located in Washtenaw County, as well as a drop off point for Ann Arbor residents at 4403 Concourse Dr. Suite C. Ann Arbor MI 48108.
